In order to volunteer with students at our school each volunteer will need to take a Protecting God's Children class, which can be completed online, and be fingerprinted at an approved location. Please see the document below for detailed instructions. Also, scroll down for important links and forms.
Volunteer Requirements
As a private school, we rely on and very much appreciate our volunteers. With that, there are requirements we must follow for any adults working with children. These are either mandated by the Diocese of Reno or the State of Nevada.
We encourage all volunteers and parents to get an early start on completing the requirements, so that when opportunities arise, you will be eligible to volunteer.
Requirements
- The Diocese of Reno requires that all volunteers take the Protecting God’s Children class and associated background check. These are administered by an organization called Virtus. Begin by following this link or following the link under the Parents tab. You will complete a background check application and view a series of videos with questions. After the initial training, a notice will be emailed each month to read a bulletin and answer a question related to the article. You will need to stay current with these bulletins.
- Complete an Adult Volunteer Application Form. This will be reviewed by the principal and be kept on file.
- The State of Nevada (NRS 394.155) requires that ALL volunteers supervising students be fingerprinted. We require the Livescan form of fingerprinting. Locations and their requirements are below.
There are three forms required to process a volunteer’s fingerprint background check.
- Fingerprint Background Waiver
- RCBR Fingerprint Request Form
- VECHS Waiver
- Bring a photo ID, payment, and the Fingerprint Request Form to the fingerprint appointment. Bring the Fingerprint Request Form and the two waiver forms to the school office after the fingerprint appointment. Links to forms are below. Fingerprinting is valid for 5 years.
Fingerprinting
Even if you have been fingerprinted with another organization or agency, unless you hold a current Nevada teaching certificate or substitute teacher license, you will need to be fingerprinted for our organization.
You can visit one of the three locations below to have Livescan fingerprinting done. These are currently the only three locations we are authorized to use.
