Juliette Hamilton - 2nd Grade

Julie was very fortunate to have transferred to St. Albert’s Catholic School in the eighth grade and to continue that excellence in education graduating from Bishop Manogue High School.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sierra Nevada College, with a major in Humanities and an emphasis in Psychology.  It has always been her  goal to continue her education and to graduate again from Sierra Nevada with a full teaching credential.  With that accomplished, she is now working hard to complete her master's degree in education.

On her journey to becoming a teacher, Julie ventured off the path a little and began a  business adventure.  She opened a bridal shop, A Beautiful Bride, LLC, in Reno, Nevada.  She believed the real life experience of owning her own business and being an entrepreneur would enhance her ability to teach for the real world.  After five years, she sold A Beautiful Bride to continue her dream of teaching and was eager to find a position at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School.  Julie thinks that being a business owner taught her true dedication.  Working with brides and their families taught her to work closely with all different types of families and beliefs, working with her staff taught her how to be a team leader and player, and running her own company taught her how to work with others to accomplish our goals together.

She has been blessed with two children who attend St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School and Child Development Center.  Julie believes a strong family and a strong community will make her dedication as a second grade teacher at St. Teresa's successful.  Please make sure to stop in to second grade and say hello.

Kathy Hogan - Kindergarten

Having attended catholic schools from the first grade through college, Kathy personally experienced the benefits of catholic education and feels that it is a privilege for her to be able to teach in an environment where she can share her faith and Catholic doctrine.  Prior to joining St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School she taught for 10 years in the public school system, and then took time off to be a “stay at home mom."  She and her husband have been married for 22 years and have 4 children currently attending Catholic schools.

Kathy believes that, as educators, we have the power to help students to realize their ability to make a difference in their world and it is through our Catholic social teachings and our school service projects that we are able to do this. For Kathy, It is an honor to be involved in a Christ-centered school; rich with academic excellence, ethics and morals, and faith-filled experiences.

Blessed, I am truly blessed! God blessed me with a successful career in the United States Air Force. God blessed me with a loving family and good health. God blessed me with a desire to teach and share what I know. God blessed me with a son whose love knows no ends. God blessed me with the opportunity to join the loving, caring, faith-based staff of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School! God blessed all of us at St. Teresa of Avila with your most precious of gifts - your children and the opportunity you have given us to make a profound difference in their lives. I'm sure I join my fellow teachers when I say I will do my best to ensure your children receive the best Catholic education possible. A little now about my background. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno and have been issued a license to teach kindergarten through eighth grade by the Nevada Department of Education. I was born in Yerington, Nevada. After moving to Carson City, I spent eleven-and-a-half years in Carson City schools. Following graduation from Carson City High School I reported for active duty in the United States Air Force, spending the next 21 years with much of it overseas. I have been retired for fourteen years, during which time I completed my degree and became a father...truly, I am blessed! I spent a number of years as a substitute teacher as well as spending one year teaching 8th grade math and one year teaching 8th grade science. This year I am teaching middle school science as well as physical education. I look forward to sharing what God has shared with me in the coming years and helping your children reach their fullest potential.
